Pancake Days Proceeds Go To:

Lions are best known for their efforts to eradicate preventable blindness, but we also participate in many other kinds of projects, including helping those in need, sponsoring international youth exchanges, and providing supplies to victims of natural disasters.

The Sioux Falls Downtown Lions Club is a proud sponsor of the Lions Vision Clinic services offered at Falls Community Health in downtown Sioux Falls.  Many of our local citizens are un-insured and cannot afford to pay for regular eye exams...much less eyeglasses with corrective lenses.

In November 2009, our own Lion Dr. Jeff Sayler played a pivotal role in getting a program off the ground that would provide exams and eyeglasses to the under-privileged.  Members of the Sioux Falls Lions Clubs volunteer their time to register patients as they arrive at the clinic for free eye exams.  A significant portion of our annual Pancake Days funds are allocated to the Lions Vision Clinic to cover the cost of operations.

Lion Dr. Jeff Sayler successfully recruited these local clinics and physicians to donate their time and talents to perform eye exams at no charge to the patient:

· Sioux Falls Family Vision Clinic

· Barnett Vision

· Vance Thompson Vision

· Sanford Opthalmology

· Avera Ophthalmology

· Pearle Vision

· Dr. David Jones and Dr. Allison Jones

If needed, patients receive a voucher to receive eyeglasses at a significantly discounted price from these providers:

· Sanford

· Pearle Vision

· Wal-Mart

· Vision Eye Care

· Barnett Vision

· Sioux Falls Family Vision

 Since 2009:

· 1319 people have applied for our assistance

· 1150 vouchers have been provided
